Zanetti scores points in the SBK World Championship in Imola
Lorenzo Zanetti took off the great satisfaction of entering in the top ten at Imola Race1 where he was a wildcard rider of the Motocorsa Team on the Ducati V4R.
The driver from Brescia closed the race on Saturday to ninth position while, in the pole race on Sunday morning, he finished twelfth; unfortunately due to heavy rain on the banks of the Santerno, for safety reasons the Race Direction cancelled Race2 and thus Zanetti's experience in SBK ended ahead of schedule. A positive experience, however, which saw Lorenzo face drivers who are usually involved in the world championship and, above all, on the Imola track, which will see him as protagonist on June 30th at the third round of the CIV, the Italian Speed Championship.
Nothing for the pilots of the WSSP300 that, like those of the SBK, had the scheduled time of the race for Sunday afternoon and therefore, again because of the rain, they could not get on the track; a pity because the Airohriders had behaved very well in practice with the poleman Mika Perez and Bruno Leraci who had scored the fourth time. All unchanged in the overall standings with Manuel Gonzalez, and his GP500, always first in the world.
Unlucky race for Edoardo Boggio in the CIV Junior planned in Modena; the very young Turinese was penalized by 20 seconds in both races for an early start, both races won. Dodo is still second in the championship standings.
