Fantastic weekend for the Airohriders! Andrea Locatelli writes history once again - Davide Alonso rules the law in Spain

31 August 2020

One word: incredible! Yes, Andrea Loka#55 Locatelli is doing something really incredible in the SSP600 World Championship, a competition that he is dominating by destroying record after record. No one had ever gone beyond the four consecutive wins, he is at seven in addition he had made every pole position, in every race and on top of that, in Aragon he had lowered three times the track record, he completed the 5077 meters in the time of 1’54”034 an average speed of 160,28 kmh. The young Airohrider from Alzano Lombardo leads the Championship with 175 maximum points with a large advantage in the world ranking, the Cluzel teammate with 130 points, and after seven races he has already doubled the French rider Mahias the third stopped at 86 points. And the next weekend he will race again at Motorland in Aragon.

Again in the middle class of derivatives bike, we have to report the excellent races of Manuel Gonzalez, eighth and tenth, and Maria Herrera who like a wild card got the point zone in Race1.

Staying in the World SBK Championship in WSSP300, we have to underline two excellent podiums achieved by Thomas Brianti, second in Race2, and Mika Perez, third in Race1.

Always in Spain there is something more, but this time from Jerez della Frontera where the third round of FIM CEV was scheduled. Here it was David Alonso who won race1 and second in the other two races, both at photofinish, once for 28 thousandths and then for only 13! Anyway these results confirm Alonso one more times as leader of ETC European Talent Cup from the top of 140 points thanks to four victories and two second places by a margin of 52 points from Alberto Ferrandez the first opponent.

In the weekend was also scheduled the 24h of Le Mans where Kyle Smith and his teammates Kevin Manfredi and Christian Gamarino, brought the Team33 Coyote up to twelfth place overall and fourth in the SST class.

Also notable on the weekend was the participation of Lorenzo Zanetti in the MotoAmerica race, the American SBK Championship, raced at the Ridge Motorsport Park in Shelton in the northwest of the USA.
